Senior Cloud Database Administrator

The Cloud Operations group requires a Database Administrator to manage, support and maintain the Platform in the Cloud. Built using the latest in BI, ETL and database technology this role will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Platform is maintained and in accordance with published SLA's. Organizationally, you will be an interface between the product development organization and customer support groups, thus based on your experience you will provide feedback to ensure the Platform meets its operational design objectives.

Key Accountabilities & Deliverables

• Manage and maintain the Platform for uptime, availability and functionality and ensure SLA's are met.
• Work independently to drive database initiatives for High Availability, High Performance, Highly scalable enterprise database solutions.
• Develop and automate backup and DR solutions for data protection.
• Own the operational lifecycle from release to retire (change / problem / incident management).
• Work alongside Software Developers to design, build and roll out / upgrade new versions.
• Develop, maintain and report on operational performance metrics.
• Provide senior-level contribution to a team responsible for the design, development and implementation of critical enterprise scale applications on a multi- terabyte environment.
• Contribute the continual improvement of the Platform via your observations and knowledge gained from your involvement and KPI's.

Experience Required

• Must have experience as a DBA (RDBMS or Big Data) with a strong understanding of database architecture concepts in design, optimization and execution of production environments.
• Experience working with Data Warehouse environments is required.
• Experience working with Cloud environments is required.
• Strong database troubleshooting and problem solving skill is required.
• Experience of implementing enterprise database High Availability solutions.
• Experience of implementing enterprise database Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery concepts and practices.
• Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux platform (Redhat, Suse) and windows OS.
• Previous experience of maintaining and supporting an enterprise cluster of 50 + TB in a distributed and enterprise environment.
• Experience of working in a 24.7 support environment with associated and defined SLA's.
• Strong understanding of systems administration and/or coding principles and concepts.
• Self-starter and results orientated
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• Use and knowledge of AWS and Big data is highly preferred.
• Use and knowledge of MongoDB, Vertica, Postgres, Spark, Cassandra are a plus.
• Use and knowledge of Open Source Environments.

Senior DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities

• Improve on existing processes and automation
• Improve and refine service monitoring
• Manage code release from Development into Production on a regular basis Skills and Experience
• 3+ years in Systems Engineering/DevOps role in a large environment is required
• Candidate must have demonstrated a strong knowledge of Linux systems and internals (CentOS preferred)
• Candidate must demonstrate an above good understanding of networking and related protocols, must have a strong understanding of fundamentals
• Will be fluent in at least one scripting language in addition to Bash (Python/Perl/PHP/Ruby), Python experience highly preferred
• Familiar and comfortable with the following: Apache, memcached, SNMP, Java, dtrace/strace, network analysis tools, or equivalent
• Experience in creating software/scripts to automate production systems with 1 of the following languages: python, perl, ruby, java, go, etc.
• Strong experience with configuration management, monitoring and systems tools (ie: Puppet, Nagios, Cacti, Graphite, Logstash, etc is a plus
• Linux package management
• Proficiency with source control, continuous integration and testing methods (svn, git, jenkins)
• Experience with Puppet or other configuration management system is a plus
• Additional working knowledge of MySQL is desirable
• Experience working with cloud-based (AWS) or hybrid environments is desirable
• Ability to work without close supervision

• Well-versed with Android and iOS ecosystem, and building apps with precision to Android / iOS design patterns & guidelines
• Experience with multi-threading, APIs (XML, JSON, REST), GCM configuration, Offline caching, Sync adapter, SQLite etc.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, AngularJS preferred
• Experience with Phonegap or Ionic framework preferred

Senior Hadoop Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• General Linux system administration: configuration, installs, automation, monitoring, etc.
• Automate operation, installation and monitoring of Hadoop ecosystem components in our open source infrastructure stack; specifically: HDFS, Map/Reduce, Yarn, HBase.
• Troubleshoot and debug Hadoop ecosystem run-time issues.
• Recovering from node failures and troubleshooting common Hadoop cluster issues.
• Document all production scenarios, issues and resolutions.
• Participate in a periodic on-call rotation.

Skills and Experience

• 2+ years of engineering operations experience, including 1-2 years of Hadoop experience.
• Strong Linux administration experience
• Expertise in building and tuning Hadoop clusters.
• Very Good understanding of HDFS, MapReduce and YARN concepts.
• Familiarity in maintaining HBase clusters.
• Good experience with Puppet is plus
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash or Python)
• Strong knowledge of open source monitoring tools such as Nagios, Ganglia, OpenTSDB.
• Experience working with cloud-based (AWS) or hybrid environments is desirable
• Ability to work without close supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Team player with ability to perform under pressure
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Cloudera or Hortonworks Hadoop Certified Administrator preferred
